I once thought of all the cool and alpha-male things I would do if I was attacked by a bear… like punching it.. or holding its mouth open with my bear hands.. (haha – get it?.. cricket… cricket..) Yesterday, a mother bear and her two cubs decided to say hello. At first, from about 500 yards away.. I was still brave and thinking what I would do if she got an attitude..
Then.. chunk-style and the kiddies decided to get closer… and at about 10 yards.. I found myself less dreaming of my super-human bear wrestling skills.. and more of trying to hold my camera steady while simultaneously trying to resist the urge to pee myself or run away screaming…
Seriously.. she could have divided me into a human chicken-wing dinner in less than 4 seconds flat. Look at those little fat kids of hers.. She was either sniffing the ground for the steak strips my Aunt Ruthann “conveniently” sent with my Uncle Jim and I… or she was just looking for berries. Judging by her girth.. I’m gonna guess it wasn’t fruit she has been snacking on.
Ok.. so traveling from West Palm Beach, Florida - The altitude change was sea level.. to 7000 feet… Temperature change… between 80-100 in Florida… – Yellowstone Natural Park: temperature swing on one day of 22 degrees in the morning to – (I shit you not) – 60 degrees..
Just this image alone is amazing that I was recently too hot..
I’m SO not making this up in photoshop.. check this out..
